"Art & love are the same thing: it's the process of seeing yourself in things that are not you." - Chuck Klosterman

Hi friend!

I'm Michaella - a documentary wedding photographer based out of Atlanta, New York City & Detroit. Atlanta is where I spend most of my time, but I split the rest of my time between New York City, and my hometown, Detroit.

I’m inspired by the smell of rain, a good cup of coffee, my grandparents’ wedding album, people reuniting at airports, a good thrift find, rich colors, & the way a cello sounds like the human voice. All of these things led me to documenting weddings, celebrating love & what it looks like to be human.

My role is to preserve the honesty of your story in a beautiful way & all of the relationships, details & micro-moments that make your story, yours. Together we will create images that feel natural and nostalgic - full of rich color & emotion.

These photos will live like you did, bringing back all the feels of your day for the rest of eternity.

The best images come from a place of trust and friendship. On your wedding day, I will be a calming presence & friend, helping make sure you slow down, relax, and be fully present in every moment that unfolds.

This is a collaboration & together we’ll celebrate all the quirks & subtleties that makes your love unlike any other.

When I began searching for our wedding photographer, I was immediately drawn to Yellow Bird Visuals. Michaella is incredibly talented, kind, and easy to work with. She & Zac captured the sweetest moments from our day. Michaella worked her magic, and our wedding gallery is absolute perfection. I know that we will look back on these photos for years to come and remember all of the emotion, adoration, and love from our wedding day. Choosing Yellow Bird Visuals was the best decision!

If you are looking for a wedding photographer... look no further!

From email communication to working on our wedding timeline to venue walk-throughs, Michaella was an absolute dream to work with. During wedding weekend, she hung around in the bridal suite even after finishing up with her detail shots and getting ready shots to offer help with random tasks like helping me put on bangles, helping us find random lost items, etc. She easily could have been taking a break and enjoying some down time during these lulls before our events, but she was always there for moral support. She offered such a warm and friendly presence during the entire wedding weekend.

At our Saturday events at the Fox, she and her husband/second-shooter Zac did a phenomenal job of catch us in our element. Never once did Michaella or Zac force us to do awkward, staged poses. Instead, they played on our natural chemistry and interactions to capture beautiful and unique portraits. They caught a number of tender moments between us that we didn’t even know were being photographed. These ended up being some of our favorite shots! They told us that their goal was to “tell the story,” and they certainly did just that!

In addition to her eye and talent, Michaella’s dramatic, moody yet natural editing style is truly unique and moving. We were drawn to her work as soon as we looked her up, and she delivered exactly what we envisioned if not more.

I would absolutely recommend Michaella and Yellow Bird visuals for your wedding if she is available for your date! She was easily one of our favorite vendors and her outstanding work will serve as treasured memories for a lifetime!

Michaella was one of the best decisions I made for our wedding day. She is kind, patient, spunky, and chill. She captured so much joy and freedom and raw life and for that I am forever grateful - now, go hire her!

My now husband and I cannot speak higher of Michaella and Zac at Yellow Bird Visuals. From traveling to New York to adventure around the streets of Brooklyn for our engagement shoot, to spending 10 hours with us on our wedding day, they were up for anything and did it all with a smile on their face. Michaella captured small moments throughout our wedding that I didn't even realize she was there for. Her style is what drove me to contact her, but her personality and talent is what made her irreplaceable! Thank you both so much!

We couldn’t be happier with her work. The experience we had taking our engagement photos was absolutely magical and unforgettable. Wish we could relive all the smiles and laughter all over again. The photos turned out amazing and captured everything so beautifully. - Parsa Garrett

Michaella was easily one of my favorite parts of my wedding! Not only were her photos stunning and creative, she was so endearing and lovely! I will recommend her to everyone I know. - Sarah Allen
